MARINE-GRADUATION-PARADE
Four marine academies to be launched this year: Dipu Moni
CHITTAGONG, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said
academic activities will begin this year in four new marine academies –
Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Pabna.
The minister said this while speaking at the graduation parade ceremony of
the 54th batch of Bangladesh Marine Academy titled-‘Mujib Centenary
Graduation Ceremony’ in Chittagong today, an official press release said.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Deputy Education
Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel attended the ceremony as the special
guests.
Dipu Moni said the country is advancing in all areas including the
maritime sector and academic programmes have been expanded in some districts
of the country.
She said it is important to create skilled workforce through giving
quality education to build a middle-income country by 2021 and developing one
by 2041.
A total of 104 cadets of Nautical Science and Marine Engineering
departments were awarded the degree through the ceremony.
Later, the education minister distributed prizes among the cadets.
