HC scraps rule for bail of DIG Prisons Bazlur

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2020 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today scrapped a rule
issued for allowing bail to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of prisons Md
Bazlur Rashid, who is in jail in a graft case.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder
and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order, asking investigation officer
and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Md Nasir Uddin to
complete the probe within next six months.

The DIG was shown arrested on October 20, 2019, from ACC headquarters in
capital’s Segunbagicha in connection with a case lodged for amassing illegal
wealth of Taka 3.08 crore.

The DIG and his wife Razzakun Nahar appeared before the anti-graft body
on that day to face grilling about their illegal wealth. In the
interrogation, the DIG couldn’t give logical answer about his illegal wealth.
