1.28-crore skilled workers to get jobs home and abroad in 5 years

RANGPUR, Jan 28, 2020 (BSS) – The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment in celebration of the Mujib Year 2020, will generate 1.28 crore skilled workforce to employ them both at home and abroad in next five years.

Officials disclosed this at a Public Awareness Building Publicity, Press
Briefing and Seminar on ‘Enhancing Skill and Awareness for Overseas
Employment’ held at upazila parishad auditorium in Badarganj upazila town in
the district today.

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment with the
assistance of Badarganj upazila administration organised the event,
participated by the upazila level government officials, union parishad
chairmen and civil society members.

Badarganj Upazila Chairman Fazle Rabbi Sweet attended the occasion as the
chief guest with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Nabiul Islam in the chair.

Deputy Assistant Director of the District Employment and Manpower Office
Nazma Akhter addressed as special guest.

Principal of Rangpur Technical Training Centre Engineer Md. Lutfar Rahman
discussed the special steps , undertaken by the government to produce 1.28-
crore skilled workforce to employ them both home and abroad in five years
from the Mujib Year 2000.

The Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) of the Ministry of
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Technical Training Centres and
other institutions are implementing the special steps.

To attain the set target, door-to-door motivational campaigns are being
conducted to inspire youths for producing and sending 1,000-skilled manpower
abroad from every upazila annually in the next five years.

“We will produce 1.28-crore skilled workforce and ensure their jobs the
country is currently exporting 10-lakh people annually to fetch 16 billion US
dollars and the youths are getting skill enhancing training on 55 trades,”
Engineer Lutfar added.

Nazma Akhter said the government put special emphasis on using the
demographic dividends through turning the youth into skilled workforce for
their employment and enhancing manpower export.

The chief guest urged the youth to avail the technical and vocational
training facilities for becoming skilled workforce to materialize the Prime
Minister’s plan for exporting 1,000-skilled manpower abroad annually from
each upazila.
