Govt to allocate Tk 1,000 cr for non-govt teachers retirement benefit
SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 27, 2020 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said the government has taken initiative for providing allocation of Taka 1000 crore for retirement benefit of the non-government teachers as the Education Ministry receives retirement claims of some 19,732 non-government teachers.
“The government has taken necessary steps for giving allocation of Taka 1000 crore in favor of the Non-Government Teacher Employee Retirement Benefit Board for the retirement benefit of the non-government teachers,” She said this while replying to a star marked question made by treasury bench lawmaker Mahibur Rahman Manik of Sunamganj-5 in the House here.
The financial allocation to this end is now under process, she said, adding that the government already has allocated Taka 100 crore special grant and Taka 500 crore as endowment fund for 2016-17 fiscal years for quick disposal of retirement benefit claims of the teachers.
Besides, the education ministry has allocated Taka 150 crore for 2017-18 fiscals and Taka 532 crore special grant for 2018-19 fiscals, the Education Minister added. All the retirement benefit claims of 2017 have already been resolved and the rest of the claims are now under process, she mentioned.
