Signal 3 to continue for maritime ports

DHAKA, June 9, 2018 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar,
Mongla and Payra have been advised to continue hoisting local cautionary
signal number three as the low over the North Bay and adjoining area has
intensified into a well marked low over the same area.

“The low is likely to intensify further and move in a north or north-
easterly direction. Under its influence deep convection is taking place over
the North Bay and adjoining area,” said a met office warning message here
today.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and
adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh, the message added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain
close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are
also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Moreover, river ports of the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura,
Tangail, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Dhaka, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal,
Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar have been asked to
hoist cautionary signal number one by 6 pm today as rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary south or southeasterly gusty or squally wind
speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur over the regions, said another met
office warning message.
