DHAKA, Jan 27, 2020 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today summarily rejected a
writ pleading to cancel the candidacy of BNP Mayoral candidate for Dhaka
North City Corporation (DNCC) for concealing information about his wealth.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md
Khairul Alam passed the order after holding lengthy hearing on the matter.

Former apex court judge, Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik filed the
writ, saying Tabith in his affidavit submitted to Election Commission
concealed information about his wealth and business in Singapore.

The court after the hearing said the documents filed for the writ, were not
attested by proper authorities and there is no scope of scrutinizing those as
the election is only four-day away.

Advocate Kumrul Haque Siddiqui moved the plea before the court, while
Barrister Rokonuddin Mahmud argued for Tabith.
