No scope for anarchy in Dhaka city polls: Kamal

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2020 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today firmly said that there is no scope for creating anarchy centering the upcoming Dhaka city corporations elections, as government has taken extensive security measures for peaceful holding of elections, slated for February 1.

“We have undertaken all-out measures for holding the upcoming Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) elections in a free and peaceful manner ,” Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told BSS here today.

He said members of the law enforcing agencies have been put on maximum alert with highest vigilance and security measures in the city to put stop to any untoward incident.

Stating overall law and order in the country particularly in the two city corporations polling areas are quite normal the home minister said law enforcement agencies in the DSCC and DNCC have been working as per Election Commission’s directives .

Kamal said troublemakers, whoever he or she may be indulged in creating panic and anarchy, would be dealt with an iron hand, and warned that stern actions will be taken if anyone is found to to create anarchy centering the city polls.”

Following government’s ‘zero tolerance policy’ against militancy and terrorism, Kamal said the law enforcers are now put on highest alert with stringent vigilance to deal with the extremists, militants and other criminals.

“The government never allows any sort of criminal activities in the country and the overall criminal activities have come down remarkably,” the minister said.

The minister said Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been relentlessly working to establish a crime and militancy-free society.

To this end, members of the law enforcing agencies have been strengthening their vigilance to maintain the country’s law and order situation, he said.
