Int’l Customs Day being observed, rally held in capital

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2020 (BSS) – The International Customs Day is being observed
in the country like elsewhere of the world with due fervor as the National
Board of Revenue (NBR) has chalked out a number of programmes across the
country to observe the day.

NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem inaugurated the day through
releasing balloons and pigeons on the premises of the NBR building at
Segunbagicha in the capital.

Marking the day, he also led a colourful rally that began from and ended
on the city’s NBR premises after roaming different points including Kakrail,
in front of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Bangladesh
Shilpakala Academy.

Apart from the officials and employees of the Customs Department, people
from all class including film stars also took part in the rally.

Speaking on the occasion, Muneem said the International Customs Day is
being observed in the country like elsewhere of the world with due fervor.
“The present government is pledge-bound to simplify international trade side
by side ensuring safe border trade.”

Meanwhile, a discussion meeting will be observed at the International
Convention City, Bashundhara later in the afternoon to mark the day, where
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, PM’s
Economic Affairs Adviser Dr Mashiur Rahman, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister M
Tajul Islam, Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman on Finance Ministry AH
Mahmood Ali and FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim are expected to remain
present.

Besides, discussion meetings will also be held at all custom houses and
duty stations alongside holding rallies throughout the country.
