MYMENSINGH, Jan 26, 2020 (BSS) – Two people, including a municipal engineer, were killed and four others injured critically in a head-on collision at Gandharbapur on the Mymensingh-Muktagachha road in the district this morning.
According to police and hospital sources, the accident occurred at Gandharbapur near Natun Bazar on the road at about 8.30am when a brick-laden truck knocked a passenger carrying auto-rickshaw, leaving Md Harun-or-Rashid, Sub-Assistant Engineer of Madhupur Municipality and an unidentified woman dead on the spot and others injured.
Hearing the hue and cry of the injured people, locals and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons. They were immediately taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH).
Engineer Abdur Rashid was the son of Liberation War veteran Haidar Ali, Bir Bikram of Muktagachha.
The bodies of the deceased were initially taken to local police station and later sent to the morgue of the MMCH for autopsy.
