UGC to introduce combined entry test at public universities

DHAKA, Jan 23, 2020 (BSS) – The University Grants Commission (UGC) today
agreed to introduce a uniform entry test for the admission to all public
universities of the country from the next academic session (2020-21).

The decision came from a view-exchange meeting between UGC Chairman Prof
Kazi Shahidullah and vice-chancellors of public universities, said a press
release.

Students, who will pass the HSC or equivalent examinations this year, are
eligible for the admission test, based on the high school curriculum for
humanities, business studies and sciences.

While addressing, UGC chairmen said Presided M Abdul Hamid and Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their view of introducing combined entrance
test in different times. And the Vice Chancellors also expressed their
willingness to introduce uniform entry test, the governing body for
universities said in a statement.

UGC will make a discussion very soon with the Vice Chancellors of four
universities, established in line with the ordinance of 1973, and some
selected universities to discuss over issue elaborately, it added.
