Oracle celebrates 20 years in Bangladesh, opens new office

DHAKA, Jan 23, 2020 (BSS) – Tech giant Oracle today celebrated 20 years of serving public and private sector firms in Bangladesh by opening its new office in the country.

The launching ceremony of the Oracle’s office and the celebration of the company’s 20-year in Bangladesh was held at a city hotel today.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal attended the function as the chief guest while State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present in the function as guest of honour, said a press release.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R. Miller, Regional Managing Director of Oracle ASEAN Cherien Varghese; Managing Director, South Asia Growth Economies & Vice President of Cloud Platform Group, Oracle Amit Suxena; and Managing Director of Oracle Bangladesh Rubaba Dowla, among others, attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said Bangladesh has leapfrogged economic growth with 8.15 percent GDP growth in the last fiscal year which was the highest in the Asia Pacific.

“I appreciate the initiative taken by Oracle while working with organizations across the country to help them transform and harness the growth” said Kamal.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “I would like to congratulate Oracle on this milestone, particularly for being our close technology partner supporting Bangladesh’s development agenda,” “The government is committed to transforming Bangladesh into a Digital Nation by 2021 and we look forward to working with corporations like Oracle to fulfill this important vision.” added Palak.

Cherian Varghese, regional managing director of Oracle ASEAN, said, “The speed at which our customers in Bangladesh are innovating and digitizing their businesses exceeds what we’re experiencing in other parts of the ASEAN region,”

Rubaba Dowla, managing director of Oracle Bangladesh said, “With an ecosystem of a 50-plus strong partner community in Bangladesh, we continue to support the digital transformation for our customers in the region,”
