CHATTOGRAM, Jan 21, 2020 (BSS) – The authorities of Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport have started the screening process of passengers coming from China in order to prevent the breakout of a new SARS-like virus.
Chattogram Airport Manager Wing Commander Sarwar-e-Zaman said the authorities issued alert and began the screening process today like Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to resist the unknown virus.
He said Chattogram does not have any direct flights to and from China but the people who are arriving here via Middle East, Dubai or India from China are requested to go through the screening machine.
“In this regard, the Health Department installed screening machine at the
airport to screen the Chinese passengers… If the mysterious Corona virus symptoms will be found into any passengers, the authority will inform it to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR),” he said.
However, no such virus-affected passenger traced in the airport still now, the source added.
