‘Police need to win public trust, confidence’

RANGPUR, Jan 21, 2020 (BSS) – Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangpur
Biplob Kumar Sarkar has said police has to earn trust and confidence of
common people to enhance the image of the police force.

“Members of police forces should work diligently with greater responsibility
in the interest of public safety and public order,” he said at the monthly
crime and law discipline review meeting held at Pirgachha police station on
Monday afternoon as the chief guest.

Presided over by Officer-in-Charge of Pirgachha police station Rezaul
Karim, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Crime) Abu
Maruf Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Fazle
Elahi and Assistant Superintendent of Police (C-Circle) Arman Hossain
addressed the event.

The SP said the police force should not conduct any nonprofessional
behavior and increase supervision and coordination to work together with a
team spirit to increase image and gain trust of common people.

Cautioning the police members, SP Biplob said ordinary people must not
suffer harassment after going to the police station for filing general diary
(GD).

“People in need of service must be evaluated, honoured and reassured by
providing legal assistance in a hassle-free manner at the police stations,”
he said, directing police officers to work with the highest degree of
cooperation mentality.
