Unprivileged children get birth certificate in Faridpur
FARIDPUR, June 8, 2018 ( BSS) – Around 200 unprivileged children born in
brothel here received birth registration certificates.
The certificates have been handed over among the children of Rathkhola
and C&B ghat brothels with the joint venture of Faridpur Municipality and
Shapla Mohila Unnayan Sangstha, a local NGO.
Mahatab Ali Methu, mayor of Faridpur municipality, said,” The children
born in brothels have been facing many problems without their birth
registration certificate for long. We are happy as we can provide them birth
certificates for the first time.”
Proshanto Saha, project director of the Shapla Mohila Unnayon Sangstha,
said, Faridpur Municipality has set a rare example to establish the right of
unprivileged children by giving birth certificates.
