Not worried about security in Pakistan: Shanto

DHAKA, Jan 20, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh young left-hand batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto was not fazed by the security issue in Pakistan, stating that rather than the off field issue he wants to focus on cricket only and leave a mark against Pakistan, who is ranked one team in T20 cricket at this moment.

Security looks to be the focal point during the build-up for the three-match T20 International series, scheduled from January 24-27.

BCB had recently decided that the upcoming tour of Pakistan will go ahead but insisted that it will be played in three phases as the tourist are not to ready to send their team to Pakistan for more than seven days at a stretch due to security reasons.

The board said that they are sending an advance security team to Pakistan while they will be accompanied by personnel from national security agencies during their upcoming tour.

”I am not thinking much about that [security]. As a professional cricketer I am focused more on the game and this [security] is not in my hands, so I am not worried about it,” Shanto said here today.

Shanto however had the experience to play in Pakistan when he toured the country with Emerging Team in 2017 for the ACC Emerging Cup tournament. He insisted that he is eyeing to cash in on the experience that he gathered during his visit.

”I went there last time [with the Emerging team in 2017] and I think the wicket that we played last year in Pakistan was very good wicket and was sporting wicket,” he said.

”If the bowler bowls in the right area then they will get help and batsman can score runs. If we can play to our strength and execute our plans well then we can score big runs and bowlers can take wicket as well,” he added.

”In T20 any team can beat any team and we are not worried about the series very much as we will play match by match. In T20 cricket the team who will play well on the particular day will win and we are focusing to perform on that particular day,” he concluded.
