City road accident kills woman
DHAKA, June 8, 2018 (BSS) – A sexagenarian woman died as a passenger bus
ran over her in front of the Jatiya Press Club here today.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbah Police Station Abul Hossain told BSS
that the victim was identified as Samirun Akhter alias Selina, an inhabitant
of Munshiganj, used to stay at Sutrapur in the old part of the capital.
“A bus of Mildline Transport Limited hit her while she was getting down
from a bus at the Western Gate of the Jatiya Press club at about 9:30 am,” he
said.
Police, quoting her son Uzzal, said Selina came here to say her Jumma
prayers at High Court Mazar Mosque.
Subsequently with fatal head injuries, the woman was rushed to Dhaka
Medical College and Hospital, where doctor declared her dead around 10:45 am,
said a hospital source.
Police, however, seized the killer bus and arrested its driver Tariqul
Islam.
A case was filed in this connection.
