DWSS takes programmes to celebrate Dr Wazed’s birthday

RANGPUR, Jan 18, 2020 (BSS) – Dr Wazed Smriti Sangsad (DWSS) has taken
various programmes to celebrate the 79th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina’s husband and noted nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah here on
February 15 and 16.

The two-day programmes were finalised at a meeting of the executive
committee of DWSS held at its temporary office on the second floor of Press
Club Complex here on Wednesday night, a press release said today.

Vice-president of DWSS and noted lawyer Advocate Jitendra Nath Roy
presided over the meeting moderated by its General Secretary and senior
journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir.

Another Vice-president of DWSS Advocate Deepak Kumar Saha, Joint General
Secretaries Elahi Farooque and Advocate Feroz Kabir Gunjan, Organising
Secretary Tanvir Ahmmed Ashrafi, Law Affairs Secretary Advocate Sajjadur
Rahman Shanju, Women Affairs Secretary Tahmina Shirin Nipa. Office Secretary
Shafikul Islam Pramanik, Literary Affairs Secretary Basher Ibne Jahur,
Publicity Secretary Mahfuzul Islam Prince, among others, addressed.

After discussion, the meeting decided to celebrate the 79th birthday of Dr
Wazed through two-day programmes in a befitting manner on February 15 and
February 16 next at own expenses of the organisation.

The programmes include drawing and handwriting competitions, poem
recitation competitions and patriotic song competitions for school and
college going students to be held on the Town Hall premises at 3 pm on
February 15.

The children and students of different educational institutions and socio-
cultural organisations can take part in the competitions.

On February 16 in the morning, leaders of the DWSS will place wreaths at
the grave of Dr Wazed Miah, arrange Ziarat and offer special munajats in his
birthplace of Laldighee Fatehpur village in Pirganj upazila of the district.

Milad and doa mahfils will be arranged and special munajats be offered at
Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque in Rangpur city after Asr prayers seeking eternal
peace for the departed soul of Dr Wazed and his other family members.

A discussion on the life and works of nuclear scientist Dr Wazed will be
arranged at Town Hall auditorium at 6 pm on February 16 and prizes will be
distributed among winners of different competitions.

Talking to BSS this noon, Saiful Islam Jahangir said the two-day
programmes taken to celebrate the birthday of Dr Wazed will remain open for
people from all walks in life.
