People supporting ‘Boat’ in city polls: Taposh

DHAKA, Jan 17, 2020 (BSS)-Awami League (AL) nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said the people came down to street to carry out polls campaign spontaneously on behalf of ‘Boat’, election symbol of the Awami League party.

“Dhaka city residents received me warmly with open hands and are eagerly working for our ‘Boat’ symbol. We hope to win in the forthcoming city corporation polls,” he told journalists while doing his electoral campaign at Chawkbazar area in the city.

Pledging to build a green Dhaka city, he further said if he is elected, he will work as a public servant for the wellbeing of the city.

Later, he continued his electoral campaigns in different wards of the city’s Lalbagh, Chawkbazar and Bangshal Thana’s areas.

“We are continuing our electoral campaigns as per the electoral code of conduct. However our opponent-candidates are busy complaining against us.” he said.

He said five specific plans have been made for the development of Dhaka city, adding: “We will ensure a modern and dynamic Dhaka city with a pledge to bring back its culture and heritage.”

The AL mayoral candidate said the DSCC is a service provider organization. It should remain engage for 24 hours providing service to the city dwellers, he said.

“Within 90 days of taking charge as Mayor, I will ensure to take basic services to every doorstep of the common people,” he added.

“Our first plan is about the old part of the city to ensure solution of city’s water logging system and work on to remove its traffic-jam.” He continued.

AL central leader Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Dhaka South City AL general secretary Humayun Kabir, former south city AL general secretary Shah Alam Murad, among others, accompanied Taposh during his electoral campaign.
