2-day Amal Sen Mela begins in Jashore

JASHORE Jan 17, 2020 (BSS) – The two-day long Amal Sen Mela marking the
17th death anniversary of the legendary politician and founding President of
Bangladesher Workers Party (BWP) Comrade Amal Sen at Bakri High School
premises in Bagherpara upazila of the district today.

To commemorate the anniversary, Amal Sen Smriti Rakkha Committee has
chalked out various programmes which included placing of wreaths at his
burial place, discussion meetings and cultural function.

BWP President Rashed Khan Menon MP was present as chief guest while its
General, Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha MP, Workers Party Polite Bureau
Member Comrade Anisur Rahman Mallick, Advocate Mostafa Lulfullah MP, former
MP Advocate Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, Mahmudul Hasan Manik among others took
part in the discussion meeting.

Vice-President of Amal Sen Smriti Rakkha Committee Advocate Nazrul Islam
presided over.

Amal Sen was a legendary politician of this sub continent. After
graduating in chemistry at the BL College in Khulna, Sen involved with the
Communist Party in 1933.

He took part in the anti-British movement, Tebhaga Andolon and the
liberation war of 1971.

He spent many years in jail to establish the rights of the people. Sen was
a leader of the forefront leader of the communist movement and one of the
organizers of the War of Liberation.

Born in Afra village in Narail on July 19, 1914 and Amal Sen died in Dhaka
on January 17, 2003.
