RCCI terms budget as pro-people

RAJSHAHI June 8, 2018 (BSS) – Terming the proposed budget for the 2018-
2019 fiscal as pro-people, Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI)
opined that the budget will help the government continue its massive
development programmes in the country.

In an instant reaction here last night, RCCI President Md. Muniruzzaman
termed the proposed budget as pro-people and development oriented.

The chamber leader also says emphasis should be given on ensuring
transparency and accountability in implementation of the ever-highest annual
budget.

“Its implementation will not be impossible,” he said, adding that such
budget was very needed to meet the gradually increasing demands of the
nation. The budget will help reflect hopes and aspirations of general public,
he said.

He praised Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith for proposing the ever-
biggest budget.

Meanwhile, leaders of different trade bodies, entrepreneurs, economists and
leaders of different political parties also hailed the proposed national
budget terming it as a pragmatic.

“The proposed budget is capable to contribute to the national development,”
said Muhammad Ali Sarker, Chairman of Zila Parishad and former president of
RCCI.

He added that the budget will obviously supplement the improvement process
of national and socio-economic condition after expediting the GDP growth
alongside elevating human resource and reducing poverty.

Ali says the proposed budget has clear-cut indications of giving emphasis
towards the vital sectors like ICT, education, agriculture, health, fuel and
power, industry, investment and social safety net.

Liakat Ali, president of Bangladesh Silk Industries Owners Association,
reacted to the proposed budget terming it as pro-people. “We have long been
demanding division-based special budgetary allocation to uplift the Rajshahi
region,” he added.

“We think overall development of the nation will not be possible until
balanced development,” Liakat Ali, Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad, says.

He, however, viewed that the budget will play vital role in overall
development of the nation.

Abul Hossain, a grassroots level farmer of Pirijpur village under Godagari
Upazila, said the issue of bringing state-level financial support to
agriculture sector should be brought under budgetary allocation to benefit
the marginalized farmers.
