JICA to continue cooperation in implementing Delta Plan

DHAKA, Jan 16, 2020 (BSS) – Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Hirata Hitoshi today said they will continue support in implementing the Bangladesh’s Delta Plan 2100.

He made the pledge at a bilateral meeting with Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin at the ministry conference room here, said a press release.

Terming Bangladesh as one the most vulnerable nations to the impacts of climate change, the JICA chief representative expressed keenness to work with the government in the environment issues including disaster management, prevention of pollution and establishing infrastructures.

He said JICA prioritized sustainable development in every sector of Bangladesh.

Extending thanks to the JICA’s chief representative, Shahab Uddin said the government is working with utmost sincerity to prevent all sorts of pollution to build a green Bangladesh.

He also said if JICA assists in preventing chemical pollution, tannery waste management and supply of solar panel, the country’s pollution prevention activities will be further strengthened.

Deputy Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar, secretary of the ministry Ziaul Hasan ndc, additional secretaries Dr Md Billal Hossain, Dr. S.M Munjurul Hannan Khan, Dr Alamgir Mohammed Monsurul Alam and Md. Mizanul Hoque Chowdhury and JICA Senior Representative Koji Mitomori attended the meeting.
