3-day digital Bangladesh fair begins tomorrow

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2020 (BSS) – A three-day Digital Bangladesh Fair-2020
will begin tomorrow aiming to demonstrate 5G technology and progress of
digital Bangladesh campaign.

Prime Minister’s Information and Communication Technology Affairs
Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy is expected to inaugurate the event in capital’s
Bangabandhu International Conference Centre with the theme “Highways of
Technology in Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla”.

Posts and Telecommunications Division is organising the event where both
government and private entities in digital technology sector will take part.

Broadband internet, triple play technology (land phone, internet and
cable TV connection in single cable), mobile apps, parental control and other
technologies will be showcased in the fair.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today issued
separate messages on the eve of three-day Digital Bangladesh Fair.

Both the President and the Prime Minister wished the digital fair a
grand success.

In his message, President Hamid said the government has implemented many
programmes of Vison-2021 in reaching the benefits of information technology
and telecommunication system to the people throughout the country.

In her message Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the use of
telecommunication and information technology has contributed significantly to
graduate Bangladesh from least-developed country to developing country.

All services of telecommunication sector, including Bangabandhu
satellite, increase of internet density, increase capability of submarine
cable, installation of new submarine cable have been modified, she added.

5G mobile network will be launched soon in the country, the premier
said, adding that the government has started using Bangladesh’s own satellite
‘Bangabandhu Satellite’ service.

Optical fibre connectivity at the union level and in almost all the
upazilas of the country has been ensured, she said, adding that ‘Zila Tottho
Batayon’ in all the districts and 5,865 digital centres have been established
across the country.

She said a total of 8,500 post offices have been converted into Post E-
Centres.

“Communication has been made faster and easier through video conferencing
in the country.” the premier added.

“Digital Bangladesh is not a dream anymore, it is now the reality,” she
said.
