Modern agriculture research center set up in Dumuria

KHULNA, Jan 15, 2020 (BSS) – A modern Agriculture Research Centre has been set up in Dumuria upazila of the district at a cost of Taka 1.60cr with basic objective to conduct advanced research on agriculture with a view to helping farmers for increasing agro productivity.

Under the pilot project of Farmer’s Service Centre and Technology Expansion,
the research centre was set up for extending agro service at every union
level of the farmers in collaboration and implementation of LGED and
financial assistance of the Directorate of Agricultural Extension.

A training centre will also be opened here for farmers and they will get
free training service at this centre. Assistant Agricultural Officers of this
centre will go to the field and provide all kinds of technical advices at
free of cost while agricultural crop is infected with insects.

Centre sources said if there is any problem with soil fertility or soil
quality, the centre will work for resolving the problems and a- three members
Deputy Assistant Agriculture officer has been formed here to provide
necessary services to the farmers.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Mosaddek Hossain said all kinds of agricultural
services will be provided from the agricultural research centre and the
famers will be imparted with necessary training from the center to be opened
here for the farmers.
