Leased lands of railways were not encroached: Razzaque
SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 14, 2020 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque today informed the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the lands of Railways that have been leased since 1975 were not encroached, but classes of the some leased lands were changed.
On behalf of Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Dr Razzaque was replying to a starred question made by treasury bench lawmaker Md Mozaffar Hossain in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The Bangladesh Railway had 60,405.85 acres of land in 1972 while it is now 61,820.35 acres, he said, adding that 58,606.57 acres of land still remains under the ownership of the Railway.
The Railway has earned about Taka 459.35 crore by leasing its land in the last 13 years, he informed.
