‘City polls candidates to be monitored strictly’
DHAKA, Jan 12, 2020 (BSS)-Every candidate participating in the city
corporation elections will be brought under the purview of the accountability
so that they must obey with the electoral code of conducts.
It was stated by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Returning Officer
Abdul Baten while he was talking to the journalists at his office in the city
today.
“I do not think the violation of the electoral code of conduct of the
candidates in the city, is not being monitored strictly,” he said.
“I will hold a meeting with executive magistrates of polls and law
enforcement agencies within the next two days,” he added.
Talking about code and conducts of the polls, he said the way of
conducting the election campaign has been described in the law, adding that
as long as the law exists, government beneficiaries will not able to conduct
any election campaign.
He said ministers including state-minister and deputy minister cannot
carry out campaign in favour of any party candidate, adding: “Only those who
are not government beneficiaries can conduct electoral campaign.”
