Bangabandhu, Bangamata Gold Cup Football Tournament held in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, JAN 12, 2020 (BSS) – Final matches of Bangabandhu and
Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Tournament-2019
in district level were held on Islamia High School ground here yesterday amid
much festivity to students, teachers and officials.

In the match of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Tournament, Ratanpur
Government Primary School of Gobindaganj upazila defeated Jaramnadi
Government Primary School of Sundarganj upazila by 1-0 goal.

On the other hand, Barisal Government Primary School of Palashbari
upazila beat Ghagoa Government Primary School of Sadar upazila by 2-0 goals
in the game of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School
Tournament.

Shafiqul Islam and Sadek Ali conducted the final matches as referees
while Debashis Chakrabartee and Ashraful Islam were the assistant referees
and Babul Biswas was the match commissioner.

Later, a concluding ceremony jointly organized by district
administration and district primary education office was also held on the
school ground around 4 pm with deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin in the
chair.

Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini
attended the function and addressed it as the chief guest.

Superintendent of police Towhidul Islam and mayor of Gaibandha
Pourashava Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon also spoke at the event
as the special guests.

Earlier, district primary education officer Mohammad Hossain Ali made a
speech welcoming all in the function and said a total of 14 teams coming from
seven upazilas participated in the tournament spontaneously.

Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad Mahabub Ara Begum Gini in her speeches said
there is no alternative to sports to build sound mind and healthy body.

Sports also make a person more disciplined, patient, punctual and
courteous in life side by side with teaching him to go ahead, the whip added.

As sports are very essential for physical and mental development of the
children, she urged the chiefs of the academic institutions to keep
arrangement at their schools for holding various types of games including
football all the year round.

DC Abdul Matin in his presidential speeches asked the winners to make
their practices continued so that the teams could enhance the images of the
district by taking part in the competitions in divisional level and national
one also.

The DC also thanked the concerned for holding and completing the
tournament here successfully.

Then, whip formally distributed the prizes to the winners as the chief
guest.

A large number of students, teachers, education officials, and invited
persons including journalists were present on the occasion.
