DHAKA, Jan 11, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam is unable to join Raisina Dialogue, to be organised by Overseas Research Foundation (ORF) in New Delhi from January 14, as it coincides with his visit to the UAE accompanying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Clarifying the fact in a statement today, the foreign ministry said it noticed “few misleading news items” publishing in different media over the “supposed” visit of the state minister to New Delhi.
“There was no bilateral engagement scheduled during the visit. The inability of his (Shahriar’s) participation has no bearing with anything,” said the statement.
It read “the ministry would like to convey that State Minister Md Shahriar Alam was invited as a speaker in the Raisina Dialogue which coincides with his visit to the UAE to accompany the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.”
A regret letter, in this regard, has already been communicated to ORF as Alam could not participate in the event, it added.
