‘Mujib Year’ countdown begins in Bangladesh missions

DHAKA, Jan 11, 2020 (BSS) – With huge enthusiasm and festivity, Bangladesh mission in New York , Washington D.C , Tokyo, Seoul ,Vietnam and London high commission celebrated the inauguration of the countdown for celebrating the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In New York, the Bangladesh mission organised a discussion at the Mission’s Bangabandhu auditorium where Ambassador Rabab Fatima was present. Bangladeshi migrants in Vietnam took part in the programme.

Fatima said, ‘the return of the Father of the Nation to independent Bangladesh in 1972 marked the full accomplishment of our Independence ‘.

She added, ‘the celebration of birth centenary of the Father of the Nation is not only a formality, it is a philosophy too. We shall practice this philosophy, maintain it deeply in our thoughts and feelings, and we shall reflect this philosophy in our work for the development of our country and the nation’.

At the end of her remarks, the Permanent Representatives formally inaugurated a countdown clock to be displayed at the mission following a similar countdown ceremony by the Prime Minister in Dhaka.

Later, a video documentary was presented to highlight the significance of the day.

Bangladesh mission in Washington D.C also observed the countdown of birth centenary celebration of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin declared the countdown by releasing a bunch of colorful balloons to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from March 17, 2020 to March 17, 2021.

Earlier, the ambassador accompanied by officers and employees of Bangladesh Embassy placed floral wreaths at the statue of the Father of the Nation.

In Hanoi, the Bangladesh mission organised a discussion at the chancery where Ambassador Samina Naz was present as the chief guest. Bangladeshi migrants in Vietnam took part in the programme.

Later, the high commissioner symbolically inaugurated the countdown that followed by a discussion programme.

Besides, Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi observed Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day through a discussion programme.

After the discussion, the mission was linked to live telecast of the colourful ceremony at Dhaka marking the start of the countdown of the celebration of ‘Mujib Borsho’.

Messages from President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read out at all programmes.
