Tk 100 crore proposed for promoting women entrepreneurs

DHAKA, June 7, 2018 (BSS) – The government has allocated Taka 100 crore to
the Women Entrepreneurship Fund to encourage women to become entrepreneurs in
various sectors, which will help them get empowered.

“We are allocating Taka 100 crore for Women Entrepreneurship Fund and Taka
25 crore for Women Development Special Fund for the advancement of women,”
said Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith after unveiling the budget
proposed for the fiscal 2018-19 at Jatiya Sangsad here today.

“As part of the block allocation for certain specific purpose like previous
year, we have also allocated an amount of Taka 100 crore for Skill
Development Fund as we did in last two fiscal years,” he said.

The Finance Minister said the government will also be allocating Taka 300
crore for managing earthquake risks.

“In addition, we are allocating Taka 10 crore for NGO Foundation, Taka 250
crore for PKSF and Taka 10 crore for SME Foundation as these organisations
are playing key role in alleviating poverty,” he said.
