Bangabandhu, Bangamata Gold Cup Football Tourney begins in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Jan 9, 2020 (BSS) – Bangabandhu and Bangamata Begum
FazilatunnesaMujib Gold Cup Primary School Tournament-2019 began on the
ground of Islamia High School of the town here this morning amid much
enthusiasm among students and teachers.
An inaugural function jointly organized by district administration and
district primary education office was held on Thursday around 10 am with
district primary education officer (DPEO) Md. Hossain Ali in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin addressed the function as the chief
guest and general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu
Bakar Siddique and mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud
Zahangir Kabir Milon spoke at the event as special guests.
Later, DC Abdul Matin inaugurated the tournament through releasing balloons
and pigeons in the sky as the chief guest.
In the opening match of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Primary School Tournament,
Ratanpur Government Primary School of Gobindaganj upazila defeated West
Gobindapur Government Primary School of Sadarupazila by 2-0 goals.
On the other hand, Barisal Government Primary School of Palashbari upazila
beat Bishubari Government Primary School of Gobindaganj upazila by 4-0 goals
in the game of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School
Tournament.
The final match of the tournament will be held on January 11 at the same
venue.
National Parliament Whip and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini is
likely to attend the concluding ceremony of the tournament and distribute
prizes among the winners and the runners-up, said DPEO M. Hossain Ali.
