Cumilla take on Khulna to stay alive in BBPL play-off race

DHAKA, Jan 9, 2020 (BSS)- With three teams– Chattogram Challengers, Rajshahi Royals and Dhaka Platoon– already sealed the spot in play-off race, Cumilla Warriors and Khulna Tigers are in the race to seal the fourth spot in Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).

Khulna, however, is in favourable position with 12 points from 10 matches but Cumilla with 10 points from 11 matches still could give them a chance to make it play-off.

However, the scenario is tougher for them. Cumilla needs to win the game
against Khulna when they take on Mushfiqur Rahim’s side tomorrow at the Sher-
e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

If Cumilla win it, they still have to pray for Khulna’s defeat in their
last match against Dhaka Platoon.

For Khulna, the equation is easy. If they win their game against Cumilla,
they will move to the play-off as the fourth team, making their last game a
dead-rubber one.

Standing on that equation, Khulna however didn’t want to think much about
the Super Four. All that they think is to win each and every game which is at
their hands at the moment.

“It’s irrelevant whether we are confident or not for the super four. It’s
about winning every game we play. Our focus is to play against Cumilla again
that what we are planning to do now and planning to win it,” Khulna head
coach James Foster said here today.

While Cumilla will take on Khulna in a crucial game at under lights, the
day will see another match and that is Dhaka Platoon will take on Rangpur
Rangers.

The match is only an academic interest for Rangpur who was eliminated from
the play-off race but Dhaka need to win it to make them available in the top
two spots.
