Foolproof security ensured for Bishwa Ijtema: Benazir
DHAKA, Jan 9, 2020 (BSS) – Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed today said foolproof security measures have been ensured for the Bishwa Ijtema grounds, and the security enforcement teams have been kept ready to face any problem if arises.
“Three tires security measures have been taken by the RAB and other forces. The entire area will be monitored by cars, motorcycles , helicopters ,drones and boat patrol round the clock for peaceful holding Biswa Ijtema”, he said at a media briefing at its Karwanbazar Media Centre here today.
According to the schedule, the first phase of the Biswa Ijtema will begin tomorrow on the bank of the river Turag.
Both uniformed and plainclothes RAB members will be deployed in and around the ijtema venue to avoid unpleasant situation, he commented.
“Armed personnel, bomb disposal units and dog squads of RAB have already been deployed on Ijtema ground to avert any untoward incidents and ensure safe return of all pilgrims including coming from 27 countries,” RAB DG told journalists.
“Even we are also monitoring the social media and intelligence department is verifying every news and information to stop spreading any kind of rumors regarding the congregation”, he said.
Apart from the security measures taken for inside the venue, searching booths and CCTV cameras have also been installed in different points.
RAB-1 Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Shafi Ullah Bulbul said in this regard that, “There will be 10 observation towers and 20 entry archways in the entire area.”
The pilgrims will be facilitated with two bus services from Mohakhali to Abdullahpur; provided, there will be a medical centre for free health services, confirmed the official.
