Tk 1498 crore 14 lacs for development of youths & sports

DHAKA, June 7, 2018, (BSS) – The government has allocated Taka 1498 crore 14 lacs in the proposed budget for 2018-19 fiscal, Taka 307 crore 65 lacs and 74 thousand more than the current fiscal year, for the development of youths and sports.

“I propose an allocation of Taka 1498 crore in the next year’s budget for the development of youths and sports,” Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said today while placing the budget for the next financial year.

In the proposed budget, Taka 305 crore has been allocated for development work while 1193 crore allocated for operating issues.

Muhith, in his speech, said the government’s efforts for turning the youths of the country into a skilled workforce and generating employment for them by providing proper education and training are continuing.

“Simultaneously, we’ve continued working to find talents in sports from grassroots, create skilled players through intensive training, undertake sports development programmes for trainee sportswomen, and establishing appropriate sports infrastructures,” he said.

The finance minister said women in Bangladesh have already achieved a commendable success in cricket and football with the government’s encouragement and incentives.
