EC conducts city polls in free fair manner; Nasim
DHAKA, Jan 8, 2020 (BSS)- Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and 14-party alliance spokesman Mohammed Nasim today expressed the Election Commission (EC) will conduct upcoming both city corporation elections in free and fair manner.
“AL doesn’t want any questionable election, the EC will conduct city polls with a free and fair manner,” he expressed as chief guest while addressing at a discussion at Jatiya Press Club here.
Marking the historic Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organized the meeting.
Chaired by Vice-President of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and famous singer of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Md Rafiqul Alam the meeting was addressed, among others by AL Central Leader Advocate Kamrul Islam, AL leader Advocate Balaram Podder, General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana.
AL Presidium Member Nasim urged BNP not to leave the election and said EVM (Electronic Voting) system will be applied in the upcoming city election. There is no scope of vote rigging. Machine will work here, he added.
Spokesman of 14-party alliance Nasim said the inhabitants of Dhaka city want mosquito, dengue and drugs free city. Dhaka City Corporation election will be the people’s evaluation year for the last one year tenure of AL Government, Nasim added.
He urged the AL leaders-workers to ask vote to the people for clean image candidates with good manners.
