4-day camp for children programming contest begins in Savar
DHAKA, June 07, 2018 (BSS) – The national children and youth programming contest at school-level has reached to its final round.
To this end, a four day event has been rolled out with a training session took place today at Savar ahead of the National Scratch contest that falls on tomorrow, said a press release here today.
A total of 55 scratch teams, scouted from 64 districts, for demonstrating their skills, are provided with the training and will lock into a tough battle for tomorrow to clinch the title.
On the other hand, on June 9, as many as 128 python programmers will be given training to scale up their capacities before they battle it out in the final contest scheduled to take place on June 10.
All those selected number of programmers and teams reached the final round having outperformed hundreds of participants at district level contest.
During the first week of June, a two day intensive contest has been held at around 1800 schools at district levels.
While the event is taking place at the Sheikh Hasina National Youth Centre, a team comprising teachers from Institute of IT (IIT), Dhaka University has been deployed to take charge of the supervision of the contestants.
In the run up to this event, earlier in May, an intensive training event was provided for 5400 students of 64 districts in 180 Sheikh Russell Digital Labs across the country.
A Training of Trainers (ToT) event was also held on April 16-17 at Krishibid Institute (KIB), Dhaka with 360 ICT Teachers and Lab Coordinators of Sheikh Russell Digital Labs (SRDL).
Leading youth platform Young Bangla, and Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) are jointly organizing the contest to motivate children in programming.
In a recent event of Business Process Outsourcing summit, prime minister’s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed announced to involve ICT schooling for primary school students.
‘As the priority of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a skilled and IT literate youth for future, Centre for Research and Information (CRI) is carrying out a special programming contest all over the country to motivate children into programming in association with ICT Division Bangladesh” said Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar.
