RAB arrests suspect in DU student rape case
DHAKA, Jan 8, 2020 (BSS)- Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspect
in connection with the recent rape of a Dhaka University student.
The suspect was identified as Md Majnu, 30, and the RAB arrested him on
Tuesday night, said RAB Senior Assistant Director (Legal and Media Wing)
Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan.
On January 5, a DU student was attacked and raped by an unidentified man
near the Airport Road. The girl is now undergoing treatment at the One-Stop
Crisis Centre in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Her father filed a case at Cantonment Police Station over the incident.
Later, the case was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
On Tuesday, a Dhaka court accepted the first information report of the rape
incident and asked police to submit the probe report in the rape case by
January 28.
