Media role vital to make Vitamin A Campaign success

RAJSHAHI, Jan 8, 2020 (BSS) – Health officials at a journalists’ orientation meeting here today sought responsive role of mass media for making the upcoming National Vitamin-A plus Campaign a total success.

Civil Surgeon Office organised the orientation at its conference hall ahead of the upcoming National Vitamin A Plus Campaign- 2020 to be held on January 11 next.

Civil Surgeon Dr Enamul Haque briefed the journalists detailing the
preparations of the campaign while Deputy Civil Surgeon Kamrul Hassan and EPI
Superintendent Nur Muhammad also spoke.

The civil surgeon said one dose of one lakh unit Vitamin A Blue capsule will
be administered among 28,612 babies aged between 6 and 11 months and one dose
two lakh unit Vitamin A Red capsule will be administered among 2,60,008
babies aged between 12 and 59 months.

He said 5,262 volunteers, 282 family welfare assistants, 228 community
health service providers and 172 health assistants will work at 1,754 centres
including ten permanent ones in all nine upazilas of the district.

Dr Haque said the campaign will be carried out to reduce death risks of
babies, save them from blindness, caused by Vitamin A and develop immune
system of the children .
