DHAKA, Jan 7, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur Rangers young fast bowler Mukidul Islam Mugdho has focused on to improve his fitness in a bid to increase the pace in his bowling.

Mugdho said he is now able to bowl with express pace but he carefully curbed that intention to show his pace in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).

According to him, without improved fitness, there is concern of injury if he bowls with more pace at this moment.

“If I want, I can add pace to my bowling. But I do not need to add pace to my bowling for now, I think I need to focus more on line and length,” Mugdho said here today.

“If I want to add pace then I will have to work on it. I need to improve my fitness and need to give more concentration on my fitness,” said the fast bowler who is regarded as one of the fastest bowlers of the country and according to many he has a long career ahead.

The 19-year-old fast bowler played five matches, bagging four wickets for his team after breaking into Rangpur squad.

Mugdho, who is playing his first BPL tournament, said the experience of playing in the tournament has gone well so far for him as he is trying to perform well.

“The experience has been good… I did not get the team at the time. Then I got the chance. I am trying to do well in the tournament,” he said adding that he has learned things watching senior bowlers bowl and taking their advice from inside and outside of his team.

“They tell me how to bowl and how I can dominate at this level. Overall I am learning a lot of things from them,” he added.

Winning four matches from the first 10 games, Rangpur will have to win both of their clashes against Dhaka Platoons in order to make their way to the play-offs where they will also need to have their fate on their side as the equation of run rate will also come under measure.

“If we lose one match, we do not have any chance to qualify. Chances are very slim. Everybody is trying to play their best. Everybody wants to play play-off and to be champions. Now everyone is playing well in our team but we did not have that luck in the beginning,” he pointed out.

“We have two matches. If we can have good run rate and win well then we have some chances” Mugdho said.
