21,000 female students get ICT training

DHAKA, Jan 6, 2020 (BSS) – Some 21,000 female students in remote rural areas of Bangladesh received training on information and communication technology (ICT) in the past 3 years.

ICT Division and Huawei jointly provided this free ICT training through two digital mobile training buses in 1,226 sessions, said a press release today.

In 2015, the ICT Division signed an agreement with Huawei and mobile phone operator Robi for three-year long ICT training project.

Huawei has operated two digital mobile training buses dedicatedly, dubbed “Padma” and “Rupsa”. Another four buses operated by Robi.

The main purpose of the project is to disseminate information technology knowledge among the rural females to help them to be self-dependent in the future.

Last week, the three-year long successful project expired and recently Huawei handed over the mobile training buses to the ICT division.

Zhang Qidi, Director of the Public Affairs and Communications at Huawei Technologies, handed over the buses to Akhtar Mamun, project Director of Learning and Earning project.
