RANGPUR, Jan 3, 2020 (BSS) – Two passengers of a microbus were killed and 12 others injured in a road accident at Abiler Bazar point on the Rangpur-Kishoreganj road under Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari district today.
“The deceased were identified as Jahurul Islam, 65, and his sister Anwara
Begum, 57, of Kharija Golna Nababganj village of Jaldhaka upazila in
Nilphamari,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Police Station Harun Ar
Rashid told BSS this afternoon.
The accident occurred when the Bogra-bound microbus from Kishoreganj in
Nilphamari and a Panchagarh-bound bus from Narayanganj collided head-on there
around 7 am today.
“Microbus passengers Jahurul Islam and his sister Anwara were killed on the
spot while 12 others, including the microbus driver, and relatives of Jahurul
Islam were injured,” the OC said.
Police and Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel from Kishoreganj Fire
Service Station rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to
Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
“We have seized the ill-fated vehicles and a case was filed in this
connection with Kishoreganj Police Station today,” the OC added.
