President mourns death of former lawmaker Fazilatunnesa Bappy

DHAKA, Jan 02, 2020 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today mourned the
death of former Awami League lawmaker from reserved seat Advocate
Fazilatunnesa Bappy.

In a condolence message, President Hamid expressed deep shock and sorrow
at the death of Bappy, who breathed her last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib
Medical University (BSMMU) this morning.

The head of the state also conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family and
prayed for the eternal peace for the departed soul.

Advocate Bappy was 49. She breathed her last around 8am. She had been
undergoing treatment with pneumonia and respiratory problems at the intensive
care unit (ICU) of BSMMU hospital since December 29.

Bappy was elected as MP in the ninth and 10th parliament from the
reserved seat.

She was also an International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor and
Assistant Attorney General of the Supreme Court.
