ACC chief for building social movement against graft

DHAKA, Jan 1, 2020 (BSS) – Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Iqbal Mahmood today stressed building a strong social movement against corruption in the greater interest of the country.

“In the new year, let us build a social movement against graft for the welfare of the country and its people,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of a workshop titled ‘Investigative Journalism in Preventing Corruption’ at the ACC headquarters in the capital.

Mahmood said the fight against graft should continue and the corrupt people must be chased until they are brought to justice.

Paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said corruption is the key impediment to building Sonar Bangla. “If we can minimise the rate of corruption, it would be great for us on the Mujib Year,” he added.

The ACC chief urged journalists to write news items on the national anti-graft agency through investigative journalism.

ACC commissioners Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan and AFM Aminul Islam and its secretary Mohammad Delwar Bakth, among others, spoke on the occasion.
