5 people killed in north China coal mine accident

TAIYUAN, Dec. 30, 2019 (BSS/Xinhua) – Five people were killed in a coal
mine accident in north China’s Shanxi Province on Sunday, local authorities
said Monday.

A landslide occurred around midnight in a coking coal mine owned by the
Datong Coal Mine Group Co., Ltd. in the city of Shuozhou, trapping six
people, said the city’s publicity department.

Those trapped in the mine were rescued and sent to a local hospital after
the accident. Five of them died in the hospital and the other is in stable
condition.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
