Tajul for involving rural people in development activities
DHAKA, Dec 29, 2019 (BSS) – LGRD and cooperatives minister Md Tajul Islam
today asked the Union Parishad (UP) chairmen to implement development
activities through involving people of their respective localities.
“Local people should be involved in implementation of your development
activities. You (UP chairmen) are very close to the people of your localities
and these people abide by you, follow your instruction . . . utilize this
opportunity for the welfare of the country,” said the minister while speaking
at the Central Conference-2019 of UP chairmen here today.
UP chairmen have enormous scope to work not only for the welfare of the
rural people but also for the development of other areas, he said, adding
that you (UP chairmen) have to play role in increasing revenue mobilization
of the government through applying innovative ideas.
Tajul said the village court will have to be activated through UPs to
settle different rural disputes.
Bangladesh Union Parishad Chairmen Association (BUPCA) organised the
conference with its convener Md Belayet Hossain Gazi in the chair. VC of
Begum Rokeya University Prof Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah and LGRD division
additional secretary Roksana Quader were present as special guest.
