Walton launches RAM production

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladeshi hi-tech giant Walton has launched the production process of RAM (Random Access Memory) as the local company has created a milestone in the domestic technology manufacturing sector by producing digital devices like computers and laptops.

The production process of RAM was inaugurated at the NEC auditorium in the capital’s Agargaon today.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the RAM production process through a video-conferencing from the NEC auditorium with the Walton Digi-Tech Industries at Chandra in Gazipur.

Walton Digi-Tech Industries Chairman SM Rezaul Alam and Managing Director SM Monjurul Alam were present.

Walton officials said the new RAM will be used in Walton brand laptops and computers while high-tech spare parts can be used on the other digital devices.

Walton RAM will be exported to various countries of the world after meeting the local demand. The RAM will have the capacity of 2400 and 2600 megahertz.

Speaking on the occasion, the finance minister said, “We don’t want to miss the fourth industrial revolution. This revolution is based on internet and this initiative will take Bangladesh one step forward to fourth industrial revolution.”

He further hoped that other companies will also come forward and contribute to this sector.

Mustafa Jabbar said, “We can’t even dream of manufacturing RAMs 10 years ago. But, we are now producing RAMs, computers and laptops devices. We are now not only a consumer-country anymore and in future Bangladesh will export such devices,”

Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that in the 2017-18 fiscal, the government has taken various steps to help growing the local computer and other IT products industry.

SM Rezaul Alam, chairmen of Walton -Tech Industries said by 2030, Walton wants to see themselves as one of the biggest computer manufacturing companies among the five largest companies of the world like Dell, Asus and HP.

Liakat Ali of Walton -Tech Industries said the RAM being produced in the country will be marketed with Walton laptops and computers in December this year.

He said Walton is taking initiative to manufacture processor, which is another important part of the digital device after the RAM.
