DHAKA, Dec 23, 2019 (BSS)-Cumilla Warriors opener Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s
today’s incident at the game against Dhaka Platoon has already been
considered as the most debatable issue in BPL history.
He was given out of a no ball, what later was found by a TV replay and
then he was called back to bat -the incident looks too weird.
Rajapaksa was batting at 20 when he was caught at boundary line from the
third delivery of Wahab Riaz’s first over and the decision of his dismissal
was later over ruled as Dhaka’s Pakistan fast bowler was found over stepping
the ‘no-ball-line’ while delivering that ball.
The decision was overturned at a moment when Rajapaksa was already in the
dressing room and he put off his pad.
The confusion over his dismissal put the game on hold for nearly two
minutes as the Dhaka players were found talking in heated mood with the
umpires.
“It was given out. I was waiting in the boundary line and the fourth
umpire wanted me to get to the dressing room. Just to admit it with
ourselves. I think it was God, who gave chance for me and I made maximum of
it,” Rajapaksa said after the match.
“It is just T20. It is just about enjoying ourselves. I tried to get the
century, it would be my maiden century, but I would never say no if I at
least get 90 runs.”
Rumours were rife that Rajapaksa started taking shower after entering into
the dressing room but he denied it.
“No, I usually wait till the match ends to take shower. So I just took
pads off and fortunately they called me back to the crease,” he informed.
However he finally was not out on 96 off 65 balls, hitting four fours and
seven sixes but despite his valiant effort, Cumilla lost the game to Dhaka
Platoon by five wickets.
He said they were 20/25 runs short despite scoring 160-3.
“I think we were short maybe by 20-25 runs. It was not the easiest wicket
to bat as well. But if we could bowl at correct line and lengths, we could
manage to win the match,” he added.
