Customs, VAT officials to wear uniform from tomorrow
DHAKA, Dec 23, 2019 (BSS) – Customs and VAT Officials of National Board of
Revenue (NBR) is set to wear olive-colored uniform from tomorrow.
NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan would unveil the uniform at a
ceremony in city’s IDEB, said a press release.
NBR has taken this move of introducing uniform as the Customs and VAT
officials come under attack and face harassment during various occasions as
confusion is created over their identities.
The release added that wearing uniforms have been made compulsory for
everyone of Customs, Excise & VAT Commissionerate.
On September 3, NBR issued a gazette notification to this end.
Bangladesh Customs and VAT Clothing Rules-2019 states that the soldier,
sub-inspectors, assistant revenue officers, revenue officers, assistant
commissioners, deputy commissioners, joint commissioners, additional
commissioners, commissioners and other officials have to wear uniform.
