Bourses extend plunge

DHAKA, Dec 23, 2019 (BSS) – Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed today extending downbeat as the investors continued their sale of major sectors’ shares.

 

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4394.44 points on Monday with a loss of 36.51 points or 0.82 percent.

 

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES also went down by 7.05 points and 5.53 points to settle at 1494.54 points and 981.66 points respectively.

 

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 94,832 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 101.39 million securities.

 

Loser took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 354 issues traded, 68 securities gained price while 234 declined and 52 remained unchanged.

 

The top 10 gainers were SS Steel, Premier Cement, ITC, Mercantile Insurance, Saiham Textile, Sinobangla, Green Delta Mutual Fund, Nurani Dying, Al-haj Textile and Trust Bank 1st Mutual Fund.

 

Square Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Khulna Power, Golden Harvest, GP, Beacon Pharma, Paramount Textile, Ring Shine, Sinobangla, Standard Ceramic and Ifad Autos.

 

The top 10 losers were Jamuna Oil, Samata Leather, Standard Ceramic, Information Service Network, Aziz Pipes, Libra Infusion, Sonali Ansh Industries, Summit Alliance, GQ Ball Pen and Beximco Synthetics.

 

On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red maintaining the losing streak of previous day.

 

CSCX and CASPI declined by 58.58 points and 95.83 points to stand at 8113.75 points and 13384.38 points respectively.

 

At CSE, a total of 4,744,739 shares and mutual fund of 239 companies were traded, of which 56 issues advanced while 151 declined and 32 issues remained unchanged.
