BCB announces youth team for ICC U19 World Cup

DHAKA, Dec 21, 2019 (BSS)-The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa in 2020.

Akbar Ali will lead the side while Tawhid Hridoy will act as his deputy.

The team will leave Dhaka on January 3 and reach Johannesburg on January 4.

The Bangladeshi youths will play two practice matches-against Afghanistan U19 and Potchefstroom U19-in January 7 and 9 respectively, arranged by the BCB. Both of the matches will held at NWU Cricket Ground in Senwes Park.

ICC also arranged two practice matches for Bangladesh ahead of the tournament proper. Bangladesh will take on Australia U19 on January 13 at Tuks Oval, Pretoria while face off New Zealand U19 on January 15 at St John’s, Johannesburg.

Bangladesh is drawn in Group C along with Zimbabwe, Scotland and Pakistan. They will open their ICC U19 World Cup, taking on Zimbabwe on January 18 at JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom. The next match is against Scotland on January 21 at Witrand Oval, Potchefstroom. Their last group is against Pakistan on January 24 at JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom.
