Palak for proper use of internet to build digital Bangladesh

RAJSHAHI, Dec 19, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed
Palak laid emphasis on concerted efforts for proper use of internet to
supplement efforts of the government in building a digital Bangladesh.

“All the conscious citizens including the teachers and parents should take
the responsibility of motivating the internet as well as the social media
users for debarring them from sharing on the internet before verifying its
accuracy,” he added.

The state minister was addressing a workshop titled “Verify the accuracy
before sharing on the Internet” at Rajshahi University of Engineering and
Technology (RUET) here today as chief guest.

ICT division, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority and RUET jointly organized
the workshop to mark the Third Digital Bangladesh Day- 2019.

Earlier on, he inaugurated the ‘Internet of Things (IoT) Lab’ and ‘Mobile
Games and APPs Development Lab’ which were installed at the RUET at a cost of
around Taka 4.69 crore for the first time in the country for enriching the
sectors of automation of buildings, industries and various other electronic
devices and services.

Chaired by RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, the workshop
was addressed, among others, by Member of Bangladesh University Grants
Commission Prof Sazzad Hossain and Project Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujib High-Tech Park Fazlul Haque.

Palak said Bangladesh has attained a tremendous success in the ICT sector
under the present government’s relentless efforts of building digital
Bangladesh.

“Digital Bangladesh is now not a dream but a reality. People are taking 150
types of services from digital centres around the country” he added.

Palak said the ICT Division is implementing various programs, including
Innovation Design and Entrepreneurs Academy for creating employment
opportunities for youths.

“Our young generation is very talented. They would have to be utilized
properly” he added.

He said around 14,000 youths will get jobs in Rajshahi Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujib Hi-tech Park that will play a vital role in boosting the current
economy of the region by creating new technology-based employment within the
next five years.
